Atherton State School is located in Tropical North Queensland on the picturesque Atherton Tableland approximately 75 km west of Cairns.
Industry in the area consists of primary production and tourism. There are stunning rainforests, volcanic formations, lakes and views across rolling pastures to the highest mountain in Queensland, Mt Bartle Frere.
Our school opened in 1891 and moved to new facilities constructed at its present location in 1985. Current information about our school community, resourcing, enrolment numbers and academic achievement is available on the MySchool website.
We offer a comprehensive education to students from Prep to Year 6 and take pride in the development of young Australians who are capable, confident and courteous.
